Pioneers Jeremy and Howard Meltzer, a father-and-son team out of Melbourne, Australia, recently introduced the first Australian extra virgin olive oil to the US via their 500ml retail bottles. They are now available in Dean & Deluca, Sur Le Table, Zingerman's, most Whole Foods Markets and dozens of other specialty food stores across the country.
In a world of large, publicly held corporations, some of whom bring in oil from other countries and still label it ‘European', the award-winning Yellingbo Gold Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a careful blend of the Meltzer's handpicked and first cold-pressed Manzanillo, Leccino, Frantoio and Barnea olives off their family farm.
Now a new product for US chefs, Yellingbo Extra Virgin Olive Oil is available in a
10 & 4 litre cask (bag-in-box) and distributed nationally. The cask, originally developed for wine, is an Australian invention with several unique and distinctive features.
Three Bridges Olive Grove located in Yellingbo, Victoria, lies amongst the verdant Yarra Valley, a famous wine-producing region. In the style of the native Aboriginals, the label is adorned with a dot painting of the Helmeted Honeyeater; an endangered bird that lives in the nearby Yellingbo Conservation Reserve and often visits the olive grove.
