Mike Price, former executive chef of The Mermaid Inn, is pleased to announce the opening of Market Table. Located at 54 Carmine Street (212.255.2100), this combination full-service market and seasonally-inspired American restaurant is a collaboration between Price and his friend and business partner Joey Campanaro of New York’s The Little Owl.

The inviting, rustic space – once hidden under layers of sheet rock, paint and drop ceilings – now features white subway tiles lining the kitchen walls. Rich earth tones and natural wood complement the original exposed brick, and the design of the market dining room is finished with a classic copper-colored pressed tin ceiling and iron columns. The main dining room is accessed through an archway lined with additional goods and grocery items, and features a unique cork ceiling supported with pinewood beams from a 125-year-old Clydesdale stable in Canada, a chalkboard wall displaying the daily specials, butcher block tables created by Jose Gonzalez, and an eight-seat cherry wood bar. Bottles of wine are displayed on shelves, while fresh flowers and soft votives decorate the bar top and the rest of the dining room. Two full walls of windows bathe the restaurant with natural light and allow for guests to enjoy the sights of both Bedford and Carmine Streets.

Price’s menu offers guests a wide variety of dishes that reflect both the season and market items, with options like: a Maryland Crab Cake Sandwich with Spiced Fries and a Tomato Caper Remoulade; Melon and Feta Cheese Salad with Pickled Onions and Soft Herbs; and a Pan Roasted Half Chicken with Sweet Potato Salad with Hazelnut Vinaigrette. The dessert menu highlights sweets such as a Chocolate Banana Bread Pudding with Caramel and a Summer Fig Tart, Topped with Sour Cream Ice Cream.

Market Table’s “citified” outdoor garden can be seen through the restaurant’s windows, and features planters filled with seasonal offerings such as tomato vines and green beans. The dedication to the environment is found both inside and out – environmentally-friendly solar panels have been placed on the rooftop to help supplement the restaurant’s power.

Open seven days a week, Market Table is a place for those in the neighborhood to come in for brunch, lunch, a quick drink or a seasonal dinner. Drawing upon their previous experience and success, Price and Campanaro have turned Market Table into a destination for West Village residents and the city at large.
