Reminiscent of the bars and "cervezerias" of Barcelona and the Boqueria market, owner Yann de Rochefort and executive chef/partner Seamus Mullen open Boqueria Soho to offer busy New Yorkers a welcoming place to pick up a bite to-go or a place to sit and read from a selection of international newspapers. Named for the renowned food market in Barcelona like its sister location in Chelsea, Boqueria Soho's menu of traditional Spanish tapas is supplemented daily by a Market Menu of tapas and raciones (larger composed dishes). The open kitchen, surrounded by a 12-seat chef's counter, is the focal point of the 70-seat dining room. The kitchen counter features a glass-enclosed case for guests to choose the market-fresh fish and seafood they want, which are then given directly to the cooks by the "kitchen bartender" and prepared to-order immediately. Boqueria Soho is open all day for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, and offers Spanish products, cured meats and cheeses to enjoy in-house or to take-out. |
